Rufus fue un conjunto estadounidense de funk, formado en 1970, en Chicago, Illinois, más conocido por haber contribuido a lanzar la carrera de su cantante principal, Chaka Khan.
Publicaron numerosos hits durante su carrera, entre ellos "Tell Me Something Good," "Sweet Thing" y "Ain't Nobody."
Conocida como la "Reina del Funk", Khan ha ganado diez premios Grammy y ha vendido unos 70 millones de discos en todo el mundo.
"AIN'T NOBODY" - 1983
"Ain't Nobody" consiguió un número uno en Top R&B Singles y un número 22 en la Billboard Hot 100. Se ha convertido en la canción insignia de Chaka Khan.
El pianista de Rufus, David "Hawk" Wolinski, compuso la canción con una sola pista de sintetizador en bucle, acompañada por una Linn LM-1 (caja de ritmos utilizada para samples digitales de baterías acústicas y electrónicas). Cuando terminaron de grabar la canción, Warner escogió otra canción como primer sencillo. Wolinski amenazó con darle la canción a Michael Jackson, para el álbum "Thriller" si no publicaban la canción como primer sencillo. La discográfica aceptó y "Ain't Nobody" alcanzó el número uno en el R&B Chart la semana del 15 de octubre de 1983.
La canción fue incluida en la banda sonora de la película de 1984, "Breakin'".
