DIRE STRAITS: "YOUR LATEST TRICK" - 1985

Dire Straits fue una banda de rock británica formada en Londres en 1977 por Mark Knopfler (voz principal y guitarra principal), David Knopfler (guitarra rítmica y coros), John Illsley (bajo y coros) y Pick Withers (batería y percusión). Estuvieron activos de 1977 a 1988 y nuevamente de 1991 a 1995.
El sonido de Dire Straits —cuyo nombre, según el mismo Mark Knopfler, en inglés significa «situación desesperada» o «estar en apuros»— se basa en varias influencias, incluyendo jazz, folk y country y el blues rock de J. J. Cale y Eric Clapton. Su sonido despojado contrastaba con el punk rock y demostraba una influencia del roots rock que surgió del pub rock.

Hubo varios cambios en la integración de la banda, con Mark Knopfler y John Illsley como los únicos miembros estables.
Después de disolverse en 1995, Knopfler lanzó su carrera en solitario a tiempo completo.

Dire Straits ganó cuatro premios Grammy, tres Brit Awards (Mejor grupo británico dos veces), dos MTV Video Music Awards y varios otros premios.
Con 6 álbumes de estudio, 4 en vivo, 3 recopilatorios y 2 EP, han vendido más de 100 millones de copias en todo el mundo.
Fueron incluidos en el Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll en 2018.

"Your Latest Trick" - 1985

"Your Latest Trick" (Tu último truco) es una canción de Dire Straits, la cuarta pista de su quinto álbum de estudio, "Brothers in Arms" (1985).

Fue lanzado como quinto y último sencillo del álbum el 28 de abril de 1986. Más tarde apareció en el álbum en vivo "On the Night"; la misma versión en vivo está en "Sultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straits".

La versión completa del álbum de estudio se incluyó en la compilación de 2005, "Private Investigations: The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler".
Randy Brecker tocó la introducción de la trompeta en la versión en CD, pero falta en la versión en vinilo. Después de eso, hay una introducción de saxofón, interpretada por Michael Brecker, quien también toca el solo de saxofón. Chris White tocó el saxofón en la versión en vivo de las giras mundiales "Brothers in Arms" y "On Every Street".
La introducción del saxofón se utilizó en el tema musical de la serie de TVB "File of Justice".
